1) It's got a really sensitive tuner. We've been able to pick up more channels with it than even a Network VIP622 high-definition receiver. All channels came in crystal clear.
2) Excellent signal lock lock capacity and it also holds a signal much better than other converters.
3) Has the analog pass-through feature allowing the transmission of analog signals from low-power tv stations. You won't have to physically unplug the tivax stb-t8 if you need to see these channels
4) While you won't get high-definition video quality on an analog set, you'll be able to view dvd quality video with it. It has better black levels and sharper pictures.
5) It's energy star compliant,has the smart antenna feature, really fast auto scan and has RCA composite and coax cables.
6) Fantastic program guide that displays all the program information in one screen. You can check programming information for around 12 hours ahead.
7) It's a great bargain. With the government coupon program you can get the tivax stb-t8 really cheaply for $19.99.
Negatives
1) We found the remote size a tad small with small buttons. They are adequate and allow direct control of channel, aspect and program guide but the buttons could have been made a bit bigger.
2) The power cord is a bit short.
3) The owner's manual could have been better. It's a bit basic.
4) It does possess a volume control button but it doesn't have a lot of effect.

Overall, we found the cons not very important when balanced out with the fact that it gives you an excellent picture.
